Rava – 2 cups

Carrots – 2 numbers finely chopped

Green Chillies – 3 finely chopped

Red Chilli – 2

Mustard Seeds – 1 tbsp

Urad Dal – 1 tsp

Chana Dal – 1 tsp

Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Salt to taste


In a kadai heat oil – once hot add mustard seeds, green chillies, red chilli, urad dal, channa dal, asafoetida,  and chopped Carrots, curry leaves and saute for 3 minutes.

Now add 6 cups of water and allow it to come to boil.

Now slowly add the rava, salt and mix it constantly to make sure no lumps are formed.

Cook over medium flame till all the water evaporates and the upma is cooked well.

Yummy upma is now ready!
