Gulab Jamun Mix – 2 cups (I used the GITS Brand)
Ghee/Oil – for frying
Sugar – 2 1/2 cups
Elaichi Powder – 1 tsp
Saffron Strands – 5-6 (optional)
In a pot add sugar and equal amount of water and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the saffron strands and elaichi powder and cook it till becomes sticky (one string consistency).
In a bowl, take the Gulab Jamun Mix and add water and little bit of ghee to knead into a smooth and soft dough. You can sprinkle some milk if necessary. Now roll the dough into small balls (apply some ghee onto your palm to prevent the dough from sticking to your palm).
In a kadai heat oil (add little ghee as well) and once hot reduce the heat to medium and deep fry the balls till they become golden brown.
Once the balls have cooled down add them to the warm sugar syrup.
Yummy Gulab Jamuns are ready !
