Carrots – 2-3

Beans- 8-10

Small Onions – 10-12

Fresh coconut – 1 cup

Tamarind paste – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp

Urad dal – 1 tbsp

Chana dal – 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder -1 tsp

Sambar powder – 2 tbsp

Curry Leaves -1 sprig

Coriander leaves – 1 bunch

Ghee/oil – 5-6 tbsp

Salt to taste

Cooked rice – 3 cups


Finely chop the Carrots and beans and add them to the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes .

In a kadai heat oil and once hot add Mustard seeds , Urad dal , Chana dal, curry leaves and small onions and saute till the onions become soft .

Now add the cooked vegetables , Turmeric powder , sambar powder, tamarind paste, fresh coconut and saute for a few minutes.

Now add four cups of water and salt and mix well. Let it cook for a few minutes and then slowly add the cooked rice and mix it well.

Garnish with some ghee and coriander leaves .
