Green beans – 400 gms finely chopped

Green chillies – 3-4

Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp

Urad dal – 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp

Fresh coconut – 1 cup (optional)

Curry Leaves – 1 sprig and

Oil – 4-5 tbsp

Salt to taste


In a kadai heat oil and once hot add Mustard seeds, Urad dal,  green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a few minutes.

Now add the chopped beans, red chilli powder and mix well. Add salt and one cup of water and close the lid and let it cook for five to six minutes till the water evaporates and the beans is cooked well.

Now add the fresh coconut and mix well and let it cook for a couple of minutes.

Yummy Beans Poriyal is now  ready!!
