Peanut – 2 cups

Jaggery – 3 cups

Elaichi powder – 1 tsp

Ghee – 2-3 tbsp

First remove the red skin from the peanuts. In a kadai roast it lightly and keep it aside.

In the same kadai, add water and once hot add Jaggery and let it simmer till the jaggery dissolves completely. Keep stirring till the jaggery starts bubbling. Now add the Elaichi powder and mix well. When it thickens and reaches ball consistency take it off the heat.

Now pour the prepared hot jaggery syrup on the peanuts and mix it well. When it is warm, grease your fingers with ghee and make even sized balls out of the mixture.

Yummy Kadalai Urundai is now ready!!

Note: This is usually prepared for the Karthigai festival. Similarly Pori (Puffed Rice) Urundai is prepared by substituting it for peanuts.
