Ingredients:

Rice – 1 cup

Green Moong dal (with skin) – 3/4 cup

Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp

Cloves – 4-5

Red chillies – 3

Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

Asafoetida – 1 tsp

Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Black pepper corns – 6-7

Ghee /oil – 6-7 tbsp

Salt to taste

Method:

Soak the rice and moong dal for about 30 minutes.

In a pressure cooker add Ghee /oil and once hot add red chillies, Cumin seeds, turmeric powder, cloves, pepper corns, Asafoetida and curry leaves and saute for a few minutes.

Now add the soaked rice and moong dal and mix well. Now add 7-8 cups of water and salt and mix well.

Now close the lid and cook for 5-6 whistles on medium heat.

Add some more ghee before serving.

Yummy Moong Dal Kichdi is now ready!!
